This would be HUGE, as there are many venues where X32/M32 stage box gear and consoles are already in use that the Card cannot be installed. A simple ability to exchange channels directly across the AES50 network or tap into and share a Midas/Behringer stage box for inputs into LV1 would be fantastic! I am struggling trying to keep focus and a path forward with the LV1 system where I have to share or need to take in audio sources from an AES50 stage box.
This would absolutely push me over the edge into getting the new LV1. As it stands, I’d need to bring an entire system into a venue, which rules out some venues with built in systems. An AES50-WSG box that I can just add to my network at the desk would be perfect - straight channel passthrough would be just fine, like the existing Dante and MADI ones.
Though with Behringer putting out new desks, the cost of the older rack mount ones may drop to the point where one of those would be reasonable just to use as a WSG adapter…
I think the best solution currently is a M32c with a X-WSG/DN32-WSG card. Even two of them (if you need more than 32 channels) are less than the Hear Technologies WSG-Dante bridge. Though only 48khz and not for Midas Pro desks.
I used the WSG cards to connect a LV1 directly with a X32-rack for a 4 week tour without any issues. The only thing to know is: activate the soundgrid net first. When you switch on a X32 with the clock set to a WSG card and there is no soundgrid network active, the X32 stays completely silent until the soundgrid net comes to live at least once.
