Soundgrid Studio no longer available for purchase

It seems that because i’m new to the forum, i can’t send direct messages to @mpearsonadams. The “message” button doesn’t appear for me, but he can send me an email to tairoarrabal@yahoo.com.br and we can start a discussion about the topic. Thanks!

Solved which problem?
You and I spoke directly.

but u dont solve anything

Hey Ehab,

Firstly, I want to acknowledge your feelings of frustration. It’s clear you’re passionate about your work and the tools you use, and I respect that. But let’s clarify a few things.

When you purchased SoundGrid Studio, it was with the understanding that it requires a connected SoundGrid DSP Server for the mixer to work. It was designed that way to offer unique capabilities that would not be feasible with a purely native structure. After discussing this with you directly, and understanding that the product didn’t meet your specific needs, I offered to reimburse the purchase price in the form of plugin dollars.

I want to emphasize that we are not in a position to fundamentally alter the structure of SoundGrid Studio to function entirely natively. It is not a matter of denying a customer’s rights; it’s a matter of adhering to the intended design and purpose of the product.

Your request to have all products in your account updated is not an offer on the table. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that a product aligns with their needs before purchase. As you are a user of Waves plugins, and 2 years down the road after a purchase we can’t offer a direct reimbursement really, I offered you an alternative.

In our previous exchanges, I felt I had provided a detailed explanation of the situation, listened to your concerns, proposed a solution, and clarified the nature of SoundGrid Studio. I’m sorry if there was any miscommunication or misunderstanding in this regard.

I am always open to further discussion. If you believe there is an aspect of the issue that we haven’t covered, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email.

Best,
Michael

@mpearsonadams The last update to Soundgrid Studio was 12 months ago and it was a simple version bump with no new features or fixes. The 16/32/64 Track versions are still unavailable for sale. Is there any chance we’re going to get news about the future of Soundgrid Studio in 2024?

Wondering about this too, I stopped using my Digigrid DLI setup as my main recording system is a silicon machine…

I would be nice the hear anything about the soundgrid studio, I tried to switch to LV1 but I run into a lot of issues, and currently it’s not usable because SGS works LV1 only with some workarounds.

Channel assignment lost (sometimes)
Delay sync

So know I feel very frustrated, I have no stable clear way what I can do.

SGS Discontinued? No update eg v15 Plugins?
LV1 stable load, minimum same functionality as SGS?

I’am in contact with waves sales about the issues while the trial periode

I suppose there are people, who have built an entire studio-to-live-to-studio infrastructure around SGS AND LV1.
The discontinuation of SGS would mean quite heavy loss to these people. I myself have tried using LV1 in studio environment. It didn’t work out for me. And free 8 channel version of SGS would never work with multi-source multi-channel summing outside the box.

It looks like killing the product along with the infrastructure and workflow and not offering anything to replace it, leaving the customers stranded.

Or is there something new coming for the studio environment?

@Waves Please don’t do this!
Soundgrid studio is Great Blows UAD away!
People are just beginning to catch on to the power of it…
You just don’t talk about it enough

Don’t kill it… Grow it…

And now its official Sound Grid Studio will no longer work with new versions of their plugins. I would even pay for a different software license if something could still leverage my sound grid server and allow the same routing functionality!

Hi @charlienothing,

We are committed to working with you to ensure you can continue your work in the smoothest way possible. To discuss how we can help, please contact Waves Customer Support at 1-865-909-9200 extension 2, or contact us here .

@Waves
Is this true? Is version 14 the last version that works with sound grid studio & studio rack?
If this is true, then you have just killed the one thing that made your plugins and DSP products make financial sense for this user and I suspect many others.
If this is true, I would also like to add that I have enjoyed and will miss the ease at which I could off load waves plugin processing, patch and also sync audio using the waves studio rack & server. I just wish you would have listened to your customers and kept this function. I think you have taken a giant step backwards. I guess now we all have to turn the page and take a huge loss. Maybe I can sell before the street finds out.

RIP

I hear good things about Vienna Ensemble Pro. Anyone?

This really does seem like a kick in the teeth, for sure

I purchased SG Studio 32 and 64 last year, believing it would be in use and I would build a SoundGrid Server setup. Now they go and can it, with no plans for a future

Two questions:
What do I do with my Waves DiGiGrid D now?
My software requires me to move on towards newer macOS versions and soon Logic will push me to Sonoma / Sequoia at minimum. Not to mention the plans to go Apple Silicon once I am done with my 2018 Mac mini?

But nothing from Waves Audio. Just a message to say, oh by the way, we are killing SoundGrid Studio past v14

Truly disappointed
And money wasted on SoundGrid Studio versions above 8, that I can no longer use anyway
