Extracting dll from shell

I understand that V12 doesn’t support win7. But when I tried to extract individual dlls from Waveshell V12 on Win10, using shell2vst64.exe, it didn’t work. It said 0 dlls extracted. Waveshell V11 extracted fine. Is there any alternative way to extract V12 dlls?

Hi @sami_sumea,

This is not the proper way to install or use Waves Plugins.
The Waveshell is the Waves ‘engine’ that the DAW scans, and refers to the actual dll files in the Waves plugins folder in Program Files x86.

If you have Win7 you should use version 10 which supports it.
Here is how to install V10 https://www.waves.com/support/how-to-install-waves-v10

Thanks

Is this still true today?

Hi @overtontrade,

Welcome to the Waves Forum.

The only way to install Waves products is using Waves Central, other methods will not work.
Alternating the default installation like copying, moving will also not work.

You can consult with Technical Support as per the appropriate installer for your specific setup since we do allow installing older versions of Waves products as long as they are available in a previous version.

Yep. It’s much more efficient and easier to maintain to make one shared code base that all the plugs tap into via their various format “shells” tap into. The downside to this method is it does create dependancies between the several components, so if one thing gets moved or is deleted things will stop working.

Doing things this way makes it faster and cheaper to maintain where they can pass the savings on to the user with many plugins only costing around $30 now.
