Waves should organize the presets by instrument, genre etc!

Hi guys!

My name is Ola Ringdahl, I am Swedish and work in communication, including as a UX writer and accessibility consultant. I am also a semi-professional music producer and a professional voice-over artist and audiobook narrator.

I would like to hear this community’s opinion on this matter.

I love Waves products, especially because I am not a professional audio engineer but still manage to get great results thanks, above all, to all the presets.

I subscribe to Waves Ultimate, and I am very satisfied.

But… This applies to all presets for almost all plug-ins. Today, most presets are organized based on producers and sound engineers—people I, and many others, do not know. I would like all presets to also be organized according to, for example, musical instrument, music genre, where in the audio chain you are, and so on.

Currently, I have to listen through far too many presets to find the right one.

I wish Waves would become more “2025” and embrace UX design.

Good role models are, for example, Arturia, because they also make it possible to mark/tag effects as favorites. Xfer/Serum does this even better, as they allow you to rate presets from 1 to 5.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Ola Ringdahl

I’ve felt the same way. Though I do recognise many of those names it still rather put the instrument and sound in front of any engineer/producer’s name. They do cater for this if you open up the Preset Browser, so thats something. It’s just a bit cumbersome to have to do that all the time.

Perhaps there is a way to do it without the Browser. An option in the settings possibly, List Preset By Designer or List Preset By Instrument.
