Waves central allows me to install but says “not officially supported” – i’m on 2021 M1 Max Mac running. Do i have to upgrade to waves 15? or is it safe to install and run v13?
Hey @edwards.ky1 ,
Welcome to the Waves Forum.
Please Contact Technical Support to get help with instructions for your specific setup.
Version 13 wont run on Sonoma, especially with an M-Class processor. V13’s code only supports Intel architecture which is completely different.
So, sadly, you would need to upgrade to a later version of Waves. You could always hold off for a 25%off WUP sale or upgrade to a larger bundle taking advantage of their regular sales, or even consider subscribing.
That last choice isn’t for everyone. It’s working out exceptionally well for me though.
Thanks y’all – circling back with my experience:
I’m on M1 Sonoma and was able to install my v13 horizon/Abbey road plug-in via waves center. They verified and running on latest version of Logic too.
I had to click a check box I’m waves Center agreeing to “not officially supported” plug-ins, but everything is working for now. Sonoma 14.5.
Cheers,
Kyle
Oh okay. Yeah, I kind of realised later that’s what Rosetta was for, to interpret the Intel code and convert it to something Apple’s ARM chips will understand.
It’s good that Waves will let you install the plugin(s). Though the trouble is now, since it’s an older version that hasn’t been tested to run under Rosetta on an M-Class chip. That means you could run into some buggy behaviour. But since it’s not an officially version the only way to fix that is to upgrade.
Though, at least you get to try it out first without having to pay anything extra. You might actually get lucky and everything might run okay and you may not dede to. Here’s hoping.
Before doing anything serious where you need to rely on your plugins, make sure you do a thorough test including loading and saving, making sure the settings actually stick.
