Switching from Soundgrid card with waves server to Dante card with Superrack performer native and macbook pro M4

Hello Everybody,

Currently I am working with a Dlive C1500 with soundgrid card, waves server, superrack SoundGrid and macbook air M1. However I am having a lots of issues with multitracking, (using LiveTrax). Glitches in the recorded audio and driver issues, which results in reboots of my macbook until it works again.

So I am wanting to switch away from the soundgrid card to a Dante card, with an macbook pro M4 and super rack performer (nattive). So that I can do everything over dante and also add KLANG.

Do you guys think that I can do some master processing and vocal processing within super rack performer (nattive), at the same latency as I did with my server? I am not using a lot of plug ins, and I was expecting that the macbook pro M4 is way more powerful than the old extreme server that I have.

Regards,

Gonard

It’s not the CPU, the operating system and all the background processes is the main reason why a standard OS like Windows or macOS has a higher latency than the optimized (mostly reduced) linux on a SG server.

With a recent macbook i am sure you can get in the latency range of < 10ms, but i doubt you will get the same as with native SG processing.

First thing I would try is to record to another computer than the SG host.
