I would like to share a suggestion regarding the visual quality of Waves plugin interfaces.
I want to clarify that I do not think the original designs themselves are outdated. Many Waves plugins still have great layouts, controls, meters, colors, and a very recognizable visual identity.
What I believe could be improved is the graphical quality of those existing designs.
At their normal size, many Waves plugin interfaces do not appear as sharp, crisp, or well-defined as they could on modern high-resolution displays. When the plugin window is reduced in size, the graphics often appear sharper, but the interface then becomes too small to use comfortably. When the window is enlarged, the lack of graphical definition becomes even more noticeable.
My suggestion would be to preserve the original design and identity of each plugin, while improving:
- Graphical resolution and sharpness
- HiDPI and Retina display rendering
- Scaling quality at different interface sizes
- Text, knobs, meters, buttons, and graphical details
- Contrast and visual depth
- The quality and richness of the original colors
- Overall clarity and definition of the existing graphics
In other words, I am not necessarily suggesting a redesign. I would love to see the existing Waves interfaces visually remastered.
The original colors and visual concepts could remain, but with cleaner rendering, richer colors, better definition, and higher-quality graphics that remain sharp at different interface sizes.
Waves plugins are extremely powerful and are among the tools I enjoy using for music production. I believe that bringing the graphical quality of the interfaces up to the same level as their audio processing would make the plugins feel even more complete and premium.
