Seagate external HDD (exFAT) not recognized by Waves Central

Hey,

I feel like the title of the thread already says it all, but my Seagate external HDD is not recognized by Waves Central (on both windows 10 & 11). I formated it as exFAT as per instruction from Waves, but it’s still not recognized. Its the only partition on the drive and for the rest the drive functions completely normal. I have a Western Digital external HDD thats near the end of its life. Its also exFAT and somehow this one is recognized. I just don’t want to use it because of reliability issues.

Can anyone offer me help with this?

Thankyou!

Hey @Toonbosch,

Welcome to the Waves Forum.

Waves Plugins and applications are supported and tested on operating systems installed on the built-in system hard drive. Operating systems installed on external hard drives are not tested and may not be fully functional with our software.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. My plugins and application are installed on my system hard drive. But I want to have my licenses on an external HDD. But that HDD is not being seen by Waves Central, although like described above its formated correctly. There’s also no hidden partitions or anything outside of just the exFAT partition on it, so I don’t understand why Waves Central can’t see it.

Hey @Toonbosch,

We support using a USB flash drive to move your licenses to not an external HD. Those might work sometimes, but keep in mind if that’s a big drive, 1TB, i.e., your DAW will scan each time through that drive to find the licenses.

Please try a regular USB flash drive, no partitions, and see if that works.
