Cosmos: Gather Samples into Stacks

Occasionally I buy multisampled instruments that I use to build instruments for various sampling systems. These can clutter up the collection. It would be handy to be able to stack related samples so that they appear once in the window until I expand the stack. Sort of like photos in Adobe Lightroom.

Currently I use Collections as a workaround for accessing the multisamples as individual files, but the collection list getting a bit cluttered. And that doesn’t prevent me from having to scroll through a whole bunch of samples that are essentially the same instrument. Even if I could replace the samples in the main window with a representation as a collection, it still clutters my collection list with single instruments.

I would like a way to gather samples into a stack.

I would like a visual distinction between a stack and a sample.

I would like an indication of how many samples are in a stack.

I would like a way to open the stack, excluding the other samples (like opening a collection).

I would like metadata that applies to the stack, equivalent to samples.

There’s probably some extra metadata that would be nice within the stack, something to explain how each of the samples are distinct (i.e. a pitch, intended velocity, or a sample format, or whatever.)

Actually, I am tired of seeing multiples of the same sample appear with the only difference being the pitch. I think it would be really, really helpful if they could list them as a single stack as you suggest. It would make Cosmos much more easy to use and navigate.

You could even provide it as a method of sorting and/or filtering. I think this is a great idea.
