ever since choosing to use waves plugins, I have had no end of problems with licenses, every time i move my laptop out of the studio, they go into demo mode, and i am being told its because my random hardware address option is on, but its off!

Welcome to the Waves Forum.
I can personally suggest to move your licenses on to a USB flash drive this will facilitate the transitions between computers, additionally this should also avoid the mentioned behaviour in your post.
If you wish to continue using your licenses while activated to the computer that’s perfectly fine as well, Contact Technical Support so they can investigate what causes those MAC address changes even when it is turned off, might be a VPN or security app on your computer as well.
