Why does the Dorrough Meter only come in one surround format. 5.1 is from the 80’s we’ve moved on.
They have a stereo format version too. Unless you’re meaning the lack of Atmos support, or something to that degree?!?
It is an older plugin designed quite a few years back based on some very real world analogue technology. At that point it Atmos hadn’t even been invented. Though, I do agree, that Waves on the whole do need to do a bit of catching up with the Atmos game, including the Dorrough Meters. They’re running a bit behind in that game.
There are a lot more surround formats than Atmos. 7.1
7.1.2
9.1.6
and more variations than that. Pro Tools supports at least 10 variation between 5.0 and 9.1.6. Besides 7.1 is a legitimate cinema format.

Yep, I get ya.
If Atmos/multi-channel support is not in the recent V16 it’s definitely something we would be still waiting on. Which is odd, because Waves is often quick off the mark with many things. Bear in mind they have well over 200 plugins that they would need to go back through and update. So it’s not something we can expect to see too soon.
What happens if you put Durrough inside Immersive Wrapper?
I don’t know if eight Durrogh’s is what you want to see - I know shamefully little about mixing more than stereo - but if you wanted less then I guess you’d want to customise the mixdown anyway and would either reach a representative two-channel level or still use Immersive Wrapper.
