6 & 12dB slope filters in Waves AQ

The more I use Waves AQ the more I think it is an absolutely brilliant plugin… I have one major issue with it, though, and it would be such a simple fix!!!

I love the HP/LP filters… But they are limited to 24, 48, and 72dB slopes. Why leave out 6dB and 12dB?

24dB is too steep for a minimum setting.

I’m guessing the product manager figured using an adjustable width shelving filter would be adequate for that — but not at all!

One of the great things about a 6dB slope HP/LP filter is how gentle yet predictable it is. If I have to dial in my own setting for a shelving filter that’s similar, it’s not going to be as predictable (and therefore slower) than just getting the filter I want to begin with.

It wouldn’t overwhelm the UI to add 6 & 12dB filters – the slope setting is already buried so you only see it if you want to see it. It would just change from a dropdown of 3 to a dropdown of 5. No big deal.

It wouldn’t need a fancy UI update, since that part of the UI just uses a standard OS-looking box…

Please consider this! 6 and 12dB slope filters would make an awesome product that-much-more awesome.

PS. I imagine someone else might want an 18dB slope filter as well, and that would be another commonly used slope. So adding 6, 12, and 18 would probably be ideal.

Thanks for your consideration.

I agree. I use 12dB slope filters all the time. It is one of the disappointing facts in AQ that they don’t have those options available.
