Curves Equator & Curves AQ are awesome entries to this plugin genre… But it has been a long time since Waves has offered a new, modern limiter.
Using tech from Curves Equator & AQ in a “Waves Curves Limiter” is a natural next-step. There is a well regarded competitor product like this – but Waves’s autoEQ code is superior (particularly with how AQ gives multiple curves to choose from. That is unique.)
I understand there’s a TruePeak limiter built in to Curves Equator & AQ – but it doesn’t seem like its intended for ‘final limiter’ use. For one, you can’t set the output level (it’s forced to -0.1), but also it doesn’t seem to be working correctly. (I irregularly get TruePeak overshoots. Sometimes it works, sometimes it goes over. But that’s a separate issue that could be fixed.)
My real point is – Waves could use this tech to make an awesome competitor to Smart:Limit.
And if you do – please include good metering. At the minimum, we need LUFS-I which has option to auto-reset every time you hit play, and LUFS-S, current and maximum.
I know about WLM Plus, and that I could technically stack these tools together… But WLM Plus is feeling a little dated at this point — and in the new modern era, it’s all about moving FAST.
Getting these tools into a single plugin would be awesome – and Waves already has the critical code to make it happen. It just needs to be put together into a single product!
Please consider it. Thanks!
