Suggestion to invest and improve on Waves Tune (Classic, not Realtime)

I’ve been in and around Waves plugins for years having a few here and there and a lot of disparate 3rd party “other stuff.” Recently on a new machine I decided to go all in on ultimate and I’m NOT sorry I did. Wonderful stuff. But I have a strong suggestion. You guys took on Synchro Arts Vocalign recently and you did it well. Waves Tune (the classic, graphic-based plugin, not Tune Real Time) needs a significant update to its UI and workflow. Now is the time. Melodyne reigns supreme although Vovious has upset the space a little. Both of those are harmonic frequency-domain algorithms using harmonic re-synthesis and as such they do spoil the sound a bit. Your approach (similar to Autotune) is classic time-domain at least for actual audio manipulation. And your approach simply sounds better even if it is not able to make radical shifts, generate convincing formant-corrected harmonies etc. For subtle vocal tuning, Waves Tune sounds fantastic. But the plugin, the UI, is hard to work with. While everyone is clamoring over Melodyne and Vovious and Repitch 2 and … it would be wonderful if you released an updated Tune plugin.

I agree, I love the sound of Waves Tune for mostly subtle corrections, but the interface is struggling, especially since Rewire went away. Too many ways to lose the timeline start point (don’t touch that Undo button!) and spoil all your work, plus the 10 minute limit still hurts. I mostly use the Real Time one with a MIDI track now, but it’s not as good - just less painful.

I’m not particularly a fan of ARA plugins, they always seem to interact in weird ways that I can’t figure out in my head, but a Waves Tune ARA has got to be coming, right?

Alot can be done to improve Waves Tune, including AI based algorithms. Ai isn’t for everything, especially in creativity, but it does make for great tools. Pitch and time wold be one of those tools that would benefit quite a bit.

Beyond tuning algorithms the UI is ion much need of great improvement. Really, what they need is a version 2 of this plugin, since they slept too long on it.
