Waves seems to be the only one charging for plugin updates. This is highway robbery! 
Most of the time these plugins do not work properly and crash. Updates should be FREE!!!
You have to be kidding right? Updates are free, if you have an up to date WUP.
“These” plugins are amongst the most reliable and constant available.

Every time you pay for a new version of a plugin you are paying both for the new features AND the next year or so of maintenance updates. If you weren’t getting the new features its most likely they would also be charging you about $10-30 per plugin.
No-one does it for free. It costs time and money for all devs involved and none of them can afford to work for free.
