I’m a lighting operator. For the upcoming tour, the sound engineer is using a Waves LV1.
The sound engineer is supposed to send only the kick and snare from the mixing console to the grandMA3. So far, so good. But I would like to use MIDI from the grandMA3 to mute or unmute the kick, for example. That way I can set up myself what I need at any given moment, without the sound engineer having to do anything during the show.
Is this possible? If so, how does it work? Does anyone have experience with this?
Last I heard, there’s (still) no MIDI control of LV1. Waves has their own apps (locked to specific brands of devices… grumble grumble) that they prefer you to use for remote control.
For this case, you’re probably going to have the best luck getting the sound engineer to set up a monitor channel for you (likely what they would do anyway) and then use the MyMon app from a phone to control what gets sent to it. Should be easy enough to mute/unmute a channel from that.
But hopefully Waves can count this as another vote for a generic MIDI/OSC control interface…
