I love compressors with built in limiters – the limiter can catch transients that slip through the compressor’s attack. It’s brilliant, and one of H-Comp’s great features.
However - there’s no level control on the output, so the only way to use it is to push into it and then your track gets REALLY LOUD.
Ability to set the output level post-limiter would make this plugin much more useful on individual tracks. (Yes, I know I can add a volume plugin after it but that is a workflow that isn’t worth the trouble.)
A small knob in the upper right corner would be great.
Or you could put it in a ‘screw’ next to the LIMITER button (similar to how the screw sets VU level in some plugins. Yes, that mixes meaning but proximity to the limiter button would be clear enough.)
It’s a really good compressor made even more awesome by the limiter – but that awesomeness is a tedious workflow right now. Currently the limiter assumes you want to be LOUD, but often you just want to tame transients without getting loud, such as on individual tracks… So an output trim would be great!
