Can y’all please add an on/off switch to disable the dither in MV2? I spoke to someone at Waves about this way back in 2019 and this was the response:
Breaking backwards compatibility is a big deal for Waves as it’s one of their guarantees, it also sets them apart from other developers. You could open a 20 year old project and be assured that everything Waves will still work and sound the same.
Although, I do believe there would be a way to implement an activation switch that could be made to be on by default when opening older projects. However, anyone using it in the modern era would have the ability to change it’s default to off using it in projects going forward.
I was told by the person who runs the Waves Twitter account “Our developers monitor these forums closely when considering feature requests.” Bump.
The dither off switch is necessary.
I often use MV2 or MaxxVolume to smooth out the dynamics of ADR and voiceovers. They are fantastic plug-ins that combine RVox and upward compressor into one.
However, sometimes clients require some part of digital silence as delivery format. So, I have to remove the dither noise with expander or channel-strip, and it means that one of the plug-in inserts is always reserved for the Expander.
If I can turn off dithering, that’s the simplest solution.
I’m in 96k so I’m not awfully fond of the downsampling feature either, so I pretty much avoid MV2. Fortunately, I’ve found other ways around using it. SP perhaps they need the option to disable the whole section.
