I use the built-in media player app a lot in the LV1C, it’s much more convenient than running through a separate device.
Unfortunately, it only support stereo. I’d love to be able to play back up to eight channel (e.g. 7.1) tracks and route each channel separately (already possible for the two channels).
Apart from the obvious benefit to people with more immersive setups, I would also use this to construct backing tracks for certain scenarios - two main channels, plus click/guide/monitor tracks that I can send to monitors.
Right now, I have to jump to a second machine for the playback (first DAW is recording, and the single-client ASIO driver means I can’t just run it on the same machine). For a single act in a festival, this is a big lift, whereas it’s relatively easy to combine tracks into a multi-channel file ahead of time and save the risk of an additional device.
Being able to multi-select and play files simultaneously in the player would be even more convenient - usually I’d be given separate WAV/MP3 files for the playback - but I’d absolutely settle for having to prepare them myself. I’m certainly not asking for a per-channel mixer in the player app (why would I? They’re going straight into a real mixer).
