I believe it may be interesting to have a plugin that analyzes the aggregate rhythm from selected tracks and present the “energy” per bin (e.g. per each 16th note in the bar, or 8ths, per user selection).
The user will select the tracks to aggregate and a certain part of the song for analysis and the analysis is projected onto a single bar.
I’ll explain with an example. I believe that most beginners (mostly acoustic guitar singer songwriters) would naturally build a song where the guitar strums on the same beats as the drums / bass / other rhythm instruments, leading to a “dead” composition, whereas it’s usually much more interesting when a new instrument adds a percussive element outside the basic groove of the rhythm section.
Such a plugin may help see this visually - the graph will show, for example, that there’s a lot of energy on the ‘1’ and also on the 5, 9 and 13 (breaking down the 4/4 bar into 16). Maybe the bass is adding something between 13 and the 1 but there’s a “rhythm hole” between 5 and 9 and it might be interesting to play something there.
