I understand the new InTrigger is designed for drum replacement. Can it be used for drum isolation, for example, removing the hihat from a live snare track in in a multitrack recording? Or, is there a better tool to do this?
Thanks.

I don’t believe it does something like that, but I can’t think of anything that does either. You could, however, find an isolated hit somewhere in the track, sample that, and have that trigger inside InTrigger, blending it most or all of the way. You’d probably what to make good use of the Humanise feature too.
This should hopefully give you natural sounding alternative to filtering out the hihat, but does rely heavily on a good sounded isolated hit. There are recording engineers who will go out of the way to record a few isolated kit hits sometime during their recording session, just for occasions like this. But that doesn’t help you here.
Yeah, the gate still works when you dial it to all source and no triggered sound, so you can use it as a very precise (high latency) gate. But it’s still just a gate, so any hats within the time it’s open following any other drum hit is still going to be heard.
If you can, replacing everything else with samples (send the live track to multiple auxes, put a plugin on each one for each sound) is probably going to work better most of the time.
