# Does Brighter add Frequencies?

Does Brighter add treble frequencies that aren’t there, or only boost frequencies that are? IE: If I have a file where all the high frequencies have been removed, will Brighter have any affect?

If you are talking about One Knob Brighter then yes, only boost frequencies that are already there.

If you want to add high frequency harmonics, you can do so with [Aphex Aural Exciter](https://www.waves.com/plugins/aphex-vintage-aural-exciter)- I suggest you demo it 🙂

So, most of my Waves plugs are V9.X. I saw a note when trying to figure out how to download and activate Aphex that if I install V11 (which seems to be the only Aphex demo available) it will deactivate all my V9 plugins. Is this true, and if so is there a way around this?

Hi Jeff,

The v11 license authorizes the installation of v11/v10 or v9 plug-in software.  
If the plug-in exists in the v9 installer, it will work fine.  
Aphex Vintage Aural Exciter is available from v9.3 up to v11.
